We’re delighted you chose our cabin for your holiday. Please take a moment to read these instructions to ensure a smooth and relaxing stay.
- Please sort your waste into bins under the kitchen sink and/or into the recycling bins in the outdoor storage (glass, cardboard, metal, plastic).
- There is a biowaste bin on the kitchen counter, and a larger compost/biowaste bin by the road next to the general waste bin.
- General waste should be taken to the bin by the road.
- We have a deposit-based return system for bottles and cans. You can take them to the store and receive a 10–20 cent refund per item. Alternatively, you can leave the bottles and cans in the outdoor storage. Thank you for helping us be sustainable!
- Please always use a seat cover in the sauna to keep it clean for the next guest.
- The sauna heater is turned on via the power button (I/O) on the bathroom wall. Remember to turn it off after use.
- Do not cover the heater or dry clothes or shoes in the sauna.
- Cooking food on the heater, such as grilling sausages, is strictly forbidden as it
- poses a fire hazard.
- You can throw water on the stove and enjoy the steam (löyly).
- Turn off the range hood/fan in the kitchen before lighting a fire.
- To improve airflow, leave the fireplace door open for about 10 minutes before lighting the fire, especially in cold weather.
- Open the fireplace damper, located on the upper right side of the fireplace.
- Start with a small fire and add more wood once the fireplace drafts properly. A cold chimney may take some time to warm up.
- Close the smoke damper only once the fire has completely burned out.
- The boat is available only during the summer, on request.
- Boat keys and the drain plug are on the entryway hook, oars are in the shelter, and life jackets are in the outdoor storage.
- Remember to insert the drain plug before launching the boat and return it to the entryway hook after lifting the boat out of the water.
- Use the winch to lower the boat into the water and lift it out after use.
- Smoking is prohibited indoors. If smoking outdoors, please use the ashtray for cigarette butts.
- Wash the dishes you used. You can leave the dishwasher running when you leave.
- Take the trash from the kitchen and bathroom to the outdoor bin.
- You can help the cleaner by gathering used linens and towels and leaving them
- on the bed or bathroom floor.
- Turn off all the lights.
- Close all the doors and windows. This is very important in winter time.
- Remember to lock the doors and set the code to 0000.
- Place a detergent tablet or liquid in the detergent compartment, close the compartment and the dishwasher door.
- Turn on the water by rotating the valve under the tap to the ‘ON’ position. Turn it off after the program finishes (‘OFF’ position).
- Important: Let the program finish completely before opening the door. Opening it too early may result in additional maintenance charges.
- Turn on the power and open the washing machine valve by pressing the button (see image). Green light blinks. The button has a Bluetooth connection.
- Add detergent and, if desired, fabric softener into the appropriate compartments.
- Select a wash cycle and spin speed, and start the ma- chine.
- The valve will close automatically after 4 hours.
- After washing, leave the compartments and door open to allow the machine to dry. The valve will automatically close once the program is finished.
- Set the drying time (1–4 hours) using the right dial and the temperature (0– 70°C) using the left dial.

- The outdoor storage opens with the same code as the front door.
- Firewood, hobby equipment, and life jackets (in the summer) are stored there.
- Please return all equipment clean and in good condition after use.
- The lakeside shelter is shared with the neighbour. Firewood for the shelter can be taken from the outdoor storage. Please leave the shelter tidy for the next guest.
- We recommend keeping the cabin key in the key locker next to the front door to avoid misplacing it.
- The cabin’s inventory is listed, and we hope that everything remains in good condition for future guests.
- Guests are responsible for covering any damages caused to the cabin or its inventory.
- If you notice any damage upon arrival, please report it immediately to us at info@villalake.fi or to our maintenance team, Ruka 911/Phone: +358 (0) 40 596 6911. We’ll do our best to resolve any issues quickly.
